Terms of use.

About these terms

These terms apply when you use the WriteWise website and services. WriteWise is run by The WriteWise Studio LLP, 37 Shakespeare Sarani, S. B. Tower, 4th Floor, Kolkata 700 017, India (“we”, “us”). By signing up, you agree to them. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to them for you.

What WriteWise does

WriteWise helps students write their college application essays. It researches colleges from the colleges' own pages, helps you find your story in a conversation with Mara, our AI interviewer, and has a person read every draft.

WriteWise does not write your essays. You write every word.

Some features are not open yet, including the guides and the research tools. The website says “Coming soon” on them until they open.

Who can use WriteWise

WriteWise is for students who are applying, or getting ready to apply, to college, and for their parents. You must be at least 13 to sign up. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you and make any payment.

Your sign-up

Use your real name and an email address you check. Sign up only for yourself.

The referral offer

When 4 friends sign up with your link, your full [research report] unlocks. Each friend must be a real person who has not signed up before, with their own email address. We may cancel an unlock that comes from fake or repeated sign-ups. We may end this offer at any time by removing it from the website.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown on our Pricing page in Indian rupees, [including / plus] GST. Payments are processed by Razorpay. If the student is under 18, a parent or guardian must make the payment. Refunds follow our Refund and Cancellation policy.

For coaching packages, the engagement letter you sign with us sets the price, scope and payment schedule. Where it differs from these terms, the letter applies.

Your work

Your CV, your activities and your drafts stay yours. You allow us to use them only to provide WriteWise to you. We will not publish your work, or show it to anyone outside WriteWise, without your written permission, and a parent's if you are under 18.

Our work

Your research, roadmap and reports are for you, for your own applications. Please don't sell or publish them. The website, its design and its text belong to The WriteWise Studio LLP.

Research is a starting point

Every point in our research comes from a college's own pages, with a link. Colleges change their courses, staff and pages, so check anything you rely on before you submit. We cannot promise admission to any college, or any other result.

Using AI honestly

Colleges have their own rules about AI and outside help with essays. You are responsible for following the rules of every college you apply to. WriteWise uses AI to research and to ask you questions, not to write your essay.

Writing your own essay

WriteWise does not write essays. Sample lines in our reports show an idea; please don’t copy them into your essay. You are responsible for the truth of everything you write and submit. We may stop working with you, without a refund, if we are asked to write an essay for you or to include things that did not happen.

Fair use

Don't use WriteWise to break the law, to share someone else's personal data without their permission, to pretend to be someone else, to copy, scrape or overload the website, or to get into accounts or data that aren't yours. We may remove a sign-up that breaks these rules.

Our responsibility

We take care with our research and our advice, but we provide WriteWise as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, and our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and email you before a change that affects a service you have paid for.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes go to the courts in Kolkata. Before going to court, please write to us. Most things can be fixed with a conversation.

Refund and Cancellation policy

This policy covers payments made to The WriteWise Studio LLP for WriteWise services, through our website or a payment link we send you.

Brainstorm with Mara and College Research

Payments for our online tools are not refundable once your Mara session has started or your research report has been generated. At that point the service has been delivered.

If you are not happy with your report, book a free 15-minute call with Vedant or Manushri. We will go through it with you and help you take it forward.

When we will refund you

• You were charged more than once for the same thing.
• Money left your account but the payment failed.
• Your session or report failed because of a technical problem on our side and we could not fix it. You can choose a refund or a free redo.

Coaching packages

Coaching packages are covered by the engagement letter you sign with us. The letter sets out the price, the payment schedule and what happens if you stop part way. Where it differs from this page, the letter applies.

What we do not refund

• Admission decisions. We do not promise admission to any college. Colleges decide.
• A change of mind after a service has been delivered.
• Work we stop under our Terms, for example if we are asked to write an essay or to include things that did not happen.

How to ask

Email writewise.vk@gmail.com from the address you paid with, and include your payment ID. We confirm we have your request within 48 hours and reply with a decision within 7 working days.

When the money reaches you

Approved refunds go back to the card, UPI or bank account you paid from within 5 to 7 working days. Your bank may take a few more days to show it.

Questions or complaints: our Grievance Officer, details on our Contact page.

Shipping and Delivery policy

WriteWise sells online services. We do not ship anything physical, and there are no shipping charges.

How you receive what you paid for

• Brainstorm with Mara: available in your WriteWise account as soon as your payment goes through. Your essay ideas report is emailed to you and saved in your account within [2 hours] of your session.
• College Research: your report is emailed to you and saved in your account within [2 hours] of sending us your details.
• Coaching packages: start date and turnaround times are in your engagement letter.

Everything is sent to the email address you used to sign up. A parent or guardian who paid also receives the payment receipt.

If something does not arrive

Check your spam folder first. If it is not there, email writewise.vk@gmail.com with your payment ID and we will sort it out. If we cannot deliver, our Refund and Cancellation policy applies.
